AP Racing Road Kit: DS2500 to DS1.11 Pad Swap
Cam walks through swapping the DS2500 pads in the AP Racing road kit over to DS1.11 for more track time.
Swapping Pads on the AP Racing Road Kit
The AP Racing road kit ships with Ferodo DS2500 pads, which are great for street and light track use. If you're tracking the car more, DS1.11 holds up better in the heat. The good news is the swap is easy — the front and rear calipers take the same pad and the procedure is identical at all four corners.
Steps
- Lift the car safely. QuickJacks work, or do one jack point at a time.
- Remove the wheel — the lug bolts are 19mm.
- Remove the retaining pins.
- Remove the 6mm allen bolts.
- Remove the retaining spring.
- Pull the old pads out.
- Spread the pistons with a pad spreader to make room for the thicker fresh pads.
- Slide the new pads in.
- Install the retaining spring.
- Install the retaining bolts and torque them to 11 lb-ft (20 Nm).
- Install the retaining pins.
- Reinstall the wheel.
Repeat at each corner — the fronts and rears are identical.
Once everything is back together, pump the brake pedal until it's firm before moving the car, then bed the new pads in with a series of moderate stops before you lean on them hard.
